This project replaces the 83-year-old potable water underground distribution system. This is a Phase II project for replacement of water distribution mains at the North Rim. The Phase II replacement project replaces all of the water mains, sub-mains, and service laterals located in the two lower water distribution system areas of the North Rim complex (EDR area & Lodge area). Approximately 22,000 linear feet of water mains and service laterals will be replaced during Phase II construction. All existing water mains and laterals in those two service areas will be replaced with new pipe, including new drains, fixtures and fittings, fire hydrants, valves, corp. stops, meters, and spigots. The existing 3-inch water mains will be upgraded to 6- and 8-inch water mains to improve fire flow volume to the affected areas. Service areas and sub-mains not completed during Phase I construction in the upper distribution zones will also be included in the Phase II construction. Those upper service areas to be replaced will include the campground and the wastewater treatment plant areas. PSI serves as the construction manager for the project.
