Mount Rushmore National Memorial is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Memorial receives more than 2.4 million visitors a year. The project comprises two major components: (1) to replace the Plaza paver system, and (2) to rehabilitate and/or stabilize the Visitor Center. The Avenue of Flags walkway and Grand View Terrace Plaza provide the principle access to the Visitor Center and Memorial sculpture. The project includes the “mini-plaza” paving and stairs at the outside entrance to the Memorial, adjacent to the two parking garages; the main walkway to the concession facilities and the Visitor Center; and the Visitor Center rooftop Plaza. The Visitor Center at Mount Rushmore National Memorial provides opportunities to view the sculpture. The Center also houses a gift store, interactive interpretive exhibits and theaters, and museum collections for several area national parks. PSI serves as the construction manager for the project.
