The National Park Service contracted PSI to provide services for the Jewel Cave, Build Safety Compliant Cave Tour Structures as Construction Management Representative. The multi-phased project improves visitor and employee safety on the Scenic Tour route within Jewel Cave. The project also addresses deferred maintenance and resource protection issues.
The work in Jewel Cave takes place in areas where irreplaceable cave features could potentially be placed at risk by construction activities. PSI is tasked to provide contractor oversight and to assist park staff with monitoring and documenting contractor activities. To date, no significant impacts to this delicate site have occurred. The project was time-critical since the cave needed to be open for the tourist seasons.
